AMFA celebrates AMT Day, recognizing the expert aircraft maintenance technicians

The Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA) is proud to recognize the expert mechanics that make up our field on the annual AMT Day each May 24.

“On behalf of AMFA members and members of our craft, we are proud of the AMTs, also known as aircraft mechanics, who use their knowledge, skill and integrity each and every day to maintain our country’s aircraft,” said AMFA National Director Bret Oestreich. “The AMT works tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of the flying American public, and in many cases these men and women do so while working odd hours, weekends, and holidays in all types of inclement weather. They take the responsibility to provide a safe aircraft to heart, and strive to maintain the trust of the flying public.”

Last year, President Donald Trump and the White House officially recognized AMT Day with a presidential message: “Today, we express our gratitude to the men and women who carry on our Nation’s legacy of aviation and work diligently to ensure our aircraft continue operating at the standard of excellence synonymous with American industry.”

In this time of uncertainty and crisis, the work our expert mechanics do each day is even more valuable. Please join us in celebrating AMT Day, and honoring the hard work from the men and women who keep our aircraft safe for crews and passengers.

As the AMFA motto says, “safety in the air begins with quality maintenance on the ground.”
