AMFA-Southwest Airlines Negotiations Update: What’s Happening January 24 and 25

AMFA, the union representing the aircraft maintenance technicians (AMTs) employed by Southwest Airlines, have been working without a new collective bargaining agreement for more than six years. This week, we will be sitting down at the negotiation table with representatives from Southwest as we try, once again, to reach to a fair conclusion to this long process.

We want to be as transparent as we can about what we hope transpires, and what we hope to accomplish on Thursday and Friday this week.

With our members’ pay frozen for more than six years, we went from being the highest-paid, most-productive mechanics in the industry, to now the lowest paid major airline AMTs. We would like to make significant progress toward a suitable contract for our technicians, representing fair terms and conditions of employment commensurate with our immense value to the company.

We will update on the progress of these negotiations when they conclude on Friday.
