AMFA welcomes Alaska Airlines’ Maintenance Controllers

Alaska Airlines’ maintenance controllers voted to join AMFA, the largest craft-specific independent union representing aircraft mechanics

The National Mediation Board (NMB) announced this week that the Maintenance Controllers at Alaska Airlines chose to elect the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA) to be their exclusive collective bargaining agent. Approximately 40 skilled and talented individuals should be accreted into AMFA through this process.

AMFA already represents the approximately 4,200 aircraft maintenance technicians (AMTs) at Alaska Airlines, as well as Horizon Air and Southwest Airlines.

“The grassroots organizing efforts and collection of accretion Authorization Cards from the Maintenance Controllers in favor of AMFA have been submitted this month, and we are honored and committed to work hard on their behalf as your collective bargaining agent,” said Bret Oestreich, AMFA National Director.

Prior to the election, the maintenance controllers at Alaska Airlines did not have union representation.

AMFA is the only craft-specific, independent aviation union representing aircraft maintenance technicians within the entire industry. Our union is member-controlled, and laser focused on craft-specific and related issues.
